Endodontist Homa Azargoon, DDS
Dr. Homa Azargoon grew up in Raleigh, NC. She graduated Valedictorian from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and minor in Genetics. She received her dental degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry with Honors and Distinction. She then received her certificate in Endodontics from the Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry.
Dr. Azargoon is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, an achievement that less than 20 percent of Endodontists obtain in their career. To become Board Certified, Dr. Azargoon had to successfully complete a one-day written exam (testing fields such as anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, radiology and clinical endodontics), a one-day oral exam (demonstrating a high level of skill in problem solving, decision making, analysis and evaluation) and submitted documentation of a variety of complex cases demonstrating exceptional knowledge, skills and expertise in the full scope of the field of Endodontics.
Throughout her education, Dr. Homa Azargoon undertook local and national leadership and voluntary roles (UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry Admissions Committee Member, President of Gamma Beta Phi National Honor’s Society, Service Raleigh Committee Member, American Association of Endodontists Public & Professional Affairs Committee Member, and Albert Schweitzer Leadership Fellow in association with NC Missions of Mercy Portable Dental Clinic) and has conducted multiple research investigations with institutions such as the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, and Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry.
Dr. Homa Azargoon is also a member in good standing of the North Carolina Dental Society, the NC First District Dental Society, and the American Dental Society. In addition, she is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists and currently served as the past president of the Tar Heel Dental Society Study Club. As of September 2014, Dr. Azargoon became a part time Adjunct Clinical Professor for the Endodontics Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry.
Dr. Homa Azargoon has decideded to make Boone her home having local ties to the area through her mother and father in-law who have resided in the High Country for eighteen years. She enjoys spending time with family and participating in outdoor activities with a special interest in hiking, white water rafting, and kayaking.
